"I'm poorer than my friend Emily who works at Burger King," cries Joss Stone, the 17-year-old chart-topper who recently achieved great commercial success with her second album Mind, Body and Soul.
According to the Daily Star her money is being hoarded by her parents in a trust fund which she will be unable to access until she is 21, though the original plan would have seen her parted from it until her 25th birthday.
A friend revealed: "Joss is one very determined young lady and if she wants somethings she normally gets it.
"She has got her parents to put the age down to 23 and now she has got it down to 21. She is continuing to persue it, arguing that she should have her money when she turns 18."
Her riches are thought to currently amount to approximately £4.5 million.
