Police are delving into Michael Jackson's medical records and speaking to his doctors in an attempt to discover his drug history, reports claim.

LA police chief William Bratton told CNN that the police are collecting evidence to help determine how the 'Heal the World' singer died.

Bratton, who described the investigation into Jackson's death as "comprehensive and far reaching", said that they are still awaiting the final coroner's report, which will give the cause of death and the outcome of drug testing on the body.

Sources have also claimed that the star's sister Janet tried to stage an intervention after she became concerned by the singer's emaciated figure in 2007. The source claimed that the intervention was halted by Jackson's security guards.
