The Jackson family is said to be feuding over where the final resting place of the popstar should be.
A source has now told the New York Post that the gold-plated casket is being stored in the Motown founder’s mausoleum until a decision can be reached.
The King of Pop’s remains are thought to be housed in the white marble above-ground crypt Gordy bought for his family at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, located in the Hollywood Hills section of Los Angeles. The tomb is reportedly empty except for Jackson’s coffin.
The whereabouts of Jackson's body after Tuesday's memorial had previously been a mystery, with reports that his casket was transported out of the Staples Centre via an underground tunnel following the services.
It was earlier claimed that Jackson is to be buried with his famous single white sequined glove.
