Fergie turned brunette "to evolve"

Fergie has explained the reasons behind her decision to turn brunette.

The Black Eyed Peas singer, 34, admitted that she opted to dye her hair in order "to evolve".

"I've always been blonde, but it's a new time in my life. It felt like it was time to evolve,"Contactmusic quotes her as saying.

The star, who married actor Josh Duhamel earlier this year, claimed that the relationship has made her feel more secure.

"I've been in a lot of relationships that were exciting but unhealthy," she said.

"I wanted somebody that I could count on. With all the craziness in the business, I know I can count on my man - and he knows he can count on me."

Black Eyed Peas released new album The E.N.D last month.
