Lily Allen: 'I was polite in Perry feud'

Lily Allen has insisted that she was "polite" to Katy Perry during their public war of words.

The 24-year-old singer started feuding with Perry in December after hearing that she had described herself as a "fatter version of Amy Winehouse and the skinnier version of Lily Allen".

Hitting back at her rival at the time, Allen branded Perry "crass" and pointed out that she does not write her own songs.

Reflecting on the spat in a new interview with the Daily Record, Lily insisted: "That's not slagging her off. I just said I was a bit frosty with her, because she'd slagged me.

"Slagging off is saying: 'You're s***'. She compared herself to me and Amy Winehouse and I just politely said that's quite an interesting comparison to make - you're not English, and you don't write your own songs. It's not slagging someone off, it's just stating the obvious."

Allen also revealed that she disapproves of the way the 'I Kissed A Girl' star has been marketed since she hit the pop scene last year.

"I don't really like her. I think it's all quite contrived," she explained. "I know what it is and it doesn't come from her, it's not written by her, it's written by other people.

"So I think it's quite sinister to be like: 'We need to create a character - and a story'. It just doesn't mean anything to me. It's just marketing, isn't it? I'm sure that she's quite a sweet person, but I just don't really agree with the whole thing."

Allen was recently photographed topless for a fashion magazine shoot.
