Rivals Albarn, Gallagher set for Band Aid

The former chart enemies will join Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Travis’s Fran Healy, Jamelia and The Darkness to re-record 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'
"Noel said he’s going to do it and I heard Damon is going to do it as well, but as one of the Gorillaz," said Midge Ure, who co-wrote the song with Bob Geldof in 1984. "So whether he’s going to actually be in the studio or whether it’s going to be a cartoon character, I don’t know. But they’re both going to do it."
Jazz singer Katie Melua has also offered to take part while Robbie Williams, Dido and Bono have all been contacted to join the lineup.
"It now seems to have really taken off and people are desperate to be part of it," added Ure. "It’s a great idea — the 20th anniversary of something quite magnificent."
One striking omission from the lineup thusfar is the inclusion of any traditional 'pop' groups, who would widen the track's appeal to the younger market.
