David Arquette has announced that he will live in a plastic box in New York for eight hours per day next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The stunt will take place in Madison Square Garden to help raise money for the starving.

The actor, who is married to Friends star Courteney Cox, aims to raise $250,000 (£154,000) for domestic hunger relief charity Feeding America. Arquette is the chairperson of the charity's entertainment council.

Organisers have said that Arquette will be allowed food during his stay in the box.

Arquette and Cox support various charities, with Cox recently asking her friends to raise $1 million (£617,000) to help those with skin condition Epidermolysis Bullose.
