Before the likes of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and Are You Smarter Than A 10 Year Old? clogged up the listings, there were much snappier titled gameshows on our screens. With a little help from Mumsy, Richard O'Brien hosted The Crystal Maze from 1990 to 1993. A fiendishly difficult programme, it combined physical, mental, mystery and skill challenges before inevitably ending in weekly disappointment in the Crystal Dome.
Years before he set foot in the Dome though, O'Brien shot to fame as the creator and writer of The Rocky Horror Show and nabbed himself the part of handyman Riff-Raff for the film version. His acting career was sporadic from then on, but he also featured in enduring cult classics like Jubilee, Flash Gordon, Dark City and er... Spiceworld.
DS presents a celebration of Richard O'Brien in pictures.
