'Star Wars' star protects his elk

Harrison Ford, star of the Indiana Jones movies and Blade Runner, stands in the way of the slaughter of elk living near his Wyoming ranch.
The elk belong to the Fall Creek Herd, numbering 5,100. Authorities are less happy with the elk's being alive than Ford and the elk are, as the state only want 4,400 to live.
"The problem is that a lot of landowners don't allow permission to hunt. That's why this particular herd segment has grown so much," explained Mark Gocke, spokesman for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
John Kelly, manager of Ford's South Park ranch explains: "(Ford) doesn't want any hunting to take place on his property. He told me that if I caught anyone to turn them in." Warning signs to would-be-hunters are dotted about the perimeter of the property.
Authorities want to cull the elk to protect the cottonwood habitat on the snake river. Apparently the animals may also infect cattle with diseases and damage hay.
