Harry Potter star Jamie Waylett has pleaded guilty to growing cannabis plants at his London home, reports BBC News.

The actor, who plays school bully Vincent Crabbe in the magical franchise, was arrested alongside a friend in April for taking a photograph of two police officers as he drove past them.

Westminster Magistrates' Court heard that police discovered £2,000 worth of herbal cannabis being cultivated at his Kilburn flat after finding an image of the plants on Waylett's camera.

The 19-year-old pleaded guilty to growing ten of the plants during his court appearance this morning. His friend admitted possession of a knife and having 11 bags of cannabis after police discovered the items in a search of his car.

The offence of growing cannabis carries a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison, although the actor's lawyer pleaded with a judge not to send him to jail for the sake of his career.

Both men will be sentenced on July 21.
