James announced last week that he is bisexual, adding that he has been in "loving relationships" with both men and women.
Commenting on his decision to reveal the truth, Webbe told the Sunday Mirror: "To me Duncan has always been out, so it's no different for me or the boys - we have always known. We're a team and we're there for him. I love him and want him to be happy. I'm sure it's a weight off his shoulders."
He added: "Look, we're in 2009 now and it's not a bad thing - people aren't as naive and won't be looking to turn it into something it's not - it's not a big deal and we don't want to turn it into a big deal."
Speaking last weekend, James revealed that he is no longer "ashamed" about his personal life after previously feeling too "frightened" to speak out.
Blue announced that they were reuniting in April - five years after their decision to disband.
