David Beckham has reportedly confronted fans in Los Angeles after being heckled and jeered during his first match for LA Galaxy in five months.

The footballer, who had been on loan to AC Milan, endured boos every time he touched the ball at the Home Depot Centre and was faced with signs reading, 'Go home fraud' and 'Is evil something u are... or something u do?'

He later had to be restrained by security staff after he attempted to jump over a security barrier to reach the taunting fans. One man was also held back after he decided to rush towards the sports star.

Speaking to Sky Sports News after the match, Beckham said: "Just towards the end of the first half... a few of the guys were shouting some really not nice things. I just walked over at the whistle and said, 'Calm down' and tried to call one of them to shake my hand.

"He just started swearing. I tried to shake one of the guy's hands but he didn't want any of it. That's the way it is."

Beckham had angered some LA Galaxy fans after he indicated that he would be happy to remain in Italy once his loan deal expired.
