Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis has revealed that he would have joined the RAF if he had not found success as an actor.

The 20-year-old, who plays student Neville Longbottom in the fantasy franchise, told the PA that he had been a member of the air cadets for two years and that he was a "big fan" of flying.

"[The] RAF was if acting didn't work out, [it] was definitely a course I was looking at in life," he explained. "They invited me to come along as a guest one year to the Air Tattoo and they have invited me every year since."

Lewis added that he was "looking forward" to filming Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, the final instalment in J.K. Rowling's magical series.

"I've just gone back to read Deathly Hallows again, I mean I read it last year, but I have just read it again and I forgot the stuff that Neville really has to do. It's really bizarre reading it... having your future mapped out in these stories ahead of time."
