Barton rep slams "preposterous" drug stories

Mischa Barton's representative has slammed suggestions that the actress was hospitalised following a three-day cocaine binge.

The former O.C. star was taken to hospital on Wednesday after police responded to a non-emergency call from her home. It was later confirmed that authorities were helping her with an unidentified "medical issue".

Recent reports had speculated that the 23-year-old broke down following a three-day drug binge last week, with several tabloids alleging that the British-born star had even been suicidal.

However, a representative for the actress has told OK! that the rumours are "preposterous" and contain several "factual errors" about the events that led up to her hospitalisation.

It was recently confirmed that production on Barton's upcoming CW drama The Beautiful Life has been postponed, although sources have insisted that the decision was unrelated to her hospital treatment.
