Simpson mum laughs off Lachey reunion

Jessica Simpson's mother has laughed off speculation that her daughter is planning to reconcile with ex-husband Nick Lachey.

The former couple, who divorced in 2006 after four years of marriage, have been at the centre of recent reunion rumours after they both split from their long-time partners within a few weeks of one another.

Writing on her Twitter account, mum Tina responded to a fan who had asked her to "nix all the gossip about [Jessica] and Nick getting back together (sic)", writing: "Not happening! Great man, just not in the cards!"

Simpson split from Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo earlier this month, after he reportedly dumped her on the eve of her 29th birthday. Lachey separated from TV presenter Vanessa Minillo in June.

The singer recently insisted that he was wishing his ex-wife "the best" in the wake of her break-up, but admitted that he had not talked to her in around two years.
