The Ghost Whisperer actor allegedly got down on one knee and asked his co-star to marry him during a performance at the Laugh Factory in California at the weekend.
However, reps for both stars told People that the couple are not engaged. Hewitt's spokesperson said: "There's no truth to the report", while Kennedy's publicist echoed: "There's no truth to this report whatsoever."
Earlier this year, Kennedy told DS that he was "not ready" to wed the actress.
