Kelis 'to receive spousal, child support'

Nas has reportedly been ordered to compensate estranged wife Kelis almost $40,000 (£25,000) a month in maintenance by a Los Angeles judge.

The 'Milkshake' singer filed court papers in June demanding that her ex-husband pay her child support for the former couple's then unborn baby, after asking the rapper for a divorce earlier this year.

The R&B star is to receive $30,471 (£18,458) in spousal support per month, while their newborn son Knight will be given $9,027 (£5,482) for the near future, The AP reports.

Superior Court judge Louis Meisinger also instructed Nas to pay $45,000 (£25,000) for attorney fees Kelis accrued on the case as well as for a forensic accountant.

A hearing on whether the payments may be altered will take place on September 8.
