Hilton: 'Paris is a character I made up'

Paris Hilton has admitted that her on-camera persona is a character that she has made up.

While filming her upcoming MTV series Paris, Not France, the Simple Life star said that she doesn't want the public to think of her as a "blond heiress airhead", E! reports.

She said: "In a way [the persona] is good, but I also don't want people thinking of me as this blond heiress… airhead. But that is kind of my brand. I make a lot of money by doing that."

The 28-year-old socialite revealed that she worries about misconceptions placed upon her from her infamous sex tape, adding that people perceive her "thinking I'm a sl*t and thinking I'm something that I'm not".

Hilton also explained that the makers of the documentary added in footage from 1 Night In Paris without her knowledge.

"I didn't know [the sex tape] was going to be in it. It's very tough... I can't believe they kept that part in there. I thought they kept that part out," she said.

It was recently reported that she never wanted the tape of her and ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon to be made public.
