Paltrow's parents 'wished for medical career'

Gwyneth Paltrow's parents have revealed that they originally wanted her to become a doctor.

Paltrow's mother Blythe Danner has admitted that she and Bruce Paltrow never wanted their daughter to pursue acting because they thought that she would be better suited with a medical career, reports Contactmusic.

Danner said: "She's so smart we wanted her to find a cure for AIDS or something. We were pretty firm about her finishing her education but when we saw how talented she was we finally said OK."

Danner has also revealed that she thinks Paltrow's daughter and son with her husband Chris Martin will also pursue a creative career path like the rest of the family.

She added: "Apple and Moses love to fantasise. I'm always down on my hands and knees playing a character. They really love that."
