Farrah Fawcett is believed to have left her $5.5 million (£3.65 million) fortune to her son Redmond O'Neal, excluding her long-term partner Ryan O'Neal.

The Charlie's Angels actress, who died from cancer last month, apparently appointed trustees to ensure that the money will be given to her son by a controlled allowance to help him stay sober.

An insider told The Mail On Sunday: "Farrah appointed two trustees to make sure the money supports her son's journey into sobriety rather than giving him the means to destroy himself. Redmond's inheritance will be tightly controlled."

Redmond, who has battled addictions for several years, is currently serving a jail sentence on drugs charges.

His parents' 15-year relationship ended in 1997, but they reunited shortly after her diagnosis in 2006. Recent reports claim that O'Neal was having an affair with Fawcett's best friend Alana Stewart throughout her illness.
