Coleen Rooney has admitted that she feared she could never have children because her own mother suffered fertility problems in the past.

The Coleen's Real Women star announced that she was expecting her first child with footballer husband Wayne earlier this year.

Speaking to The Sunday Mirror, she said: "People take it for granted that they can have children but you can't always. My mum tried for seven years to have me.

"She went through operation after operation and had me after taking fertility drugs and sometimes I thought that could have happened to me. I just wondered if it ran in the family. So I'm just made up I'm pregnant now. I feel very lucky that I can have children and hopefully I'll have a healthy baby."

The 23-year-old went on to say that she still did not know the sex of the baby and had been decorating the couple's nursery at their home in neutral colours.

She added: "I would like to have maybe three or four children - and I would be happy to be a full-time mum. I do enjoy my work, but I'd be happy when we do have children to just get on with that."
