The Reverend & The Makers frontman told Metro that he hoped to alter the agenda of the press by being part of the Instigate Debate movement.
When asked if Michael Jackson's death warranted the media coverage it received, McClure said: "I was a bit devastated about Jacko. I grew up with him and used to do all the moves in the mirror but, no, it wasn't.
"And I didn't think Jade Goody's was either. It's sad she died and it's good more girls are getting smear tests but let's not forget she was a talentless racist."
He added: "That's what Instigate Debate is about, changing the agenda. Chelsy Davy being orange is not more important than Israel being accused of dropping phosphorus on kids."
