McMahon 'flies to injured mother's side'

Australian actor Julian McMahon has flown home from the US to be at his sick mother's side.

Lady Sonia McMahon, the 77-year-old widow of former Aussie prime minister Billy McMahon, was hospitalised after falling on a friend's boat a few months ago. She was believed to have suffered multiple fractures, broken ribs and a punctured lung in the accident.

The Nip/Tuck star's mother apparently later developed a lung infection and suspected pneumonia. Since then, she has been rehabilitating at St Vincent's hospital with the help of her two daughters Melinda and Deborah.

After visiting his mum, McMahon was seen dining with a female friend in Double Bay yesterday.

It was recently announced that the American plastic surgery drama will not be returning after the sixth series.
