Allsopp slams Mail 'moustache' article

Rex Features

Kirstie Allsopp has hit out at the Daily Mail after it published an article mocking her physical appearance.

The original piece on the newspaper's website, which has since been taken down, suggested that the presenter "appeared to be sporting a moustache".

It continued: "The 37-year-old's upper lip looked suspiciously dark and and unless she'd just finished a mug of hot chocolate and forgotten to wipe off the evidence, it appears she is need of some me time."

After being alerted to the article by her Twitter followers, the Location, Location, Location star criticised the feature.

Allsopp said: "How charming of Mail. It's dark skin, not hair and is hormonal, from birth of my sons. Small price to pay for heavenly boys!

"Will Paul Dacre, Daily Mail editor, talk to me on R4 Today programme tomorrow to explain that piece in his paper?"

She added: "So very, very grateful for kind, funny and clever Tweets re DM, fingers crossed Paul Dacre is up for debate re contemporary journalism.

"No sign of Paul Dacre responding to my challenge for a live debate, it would help if I could get Radio 4 interested, watch this space."
