Jackson has dominated the headlines since he passed away on June 25 as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of his death.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the former teen idol said: "I wish they'd leave it alone. Mike's in a good place, let's leave it at that. He had a hard life. He's having a harder death.
"Leave Michael alone. He was a great entertainer and he contributed so much to pop culture and let's remember his music and leave it at that."
Marie Osmond added: "It's the children that are being affected and we have enough things we can talk about in this world... Kids get affected by all this stuff and they have to let those kids be kids now."
Yesterday, it was announced that Jackson's elderly mother Katherine has been awarded custody of Prince, 12, Paris, 11, and 7-year-old Blanket.
