During the hearing at the LA Superior Court this morning, an attorney for Dr Arnold Klein told the judge that his client had concerns about the children's welfare if they were to live with Katherine Jackson and her family.
When asked to explain the objection, the lawyer accepted that Klein was "not a presumed parent" but that he had enjoyed a long-term relationship with the children.
However, the objection was overruled and Katherine was named guardian of Prince Michael, 12, Paris Katherine, 11, and 7-year-old Blanket. Klein still has the right to appeal the decision.
The agreement also allowed for Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe, who is the biological mother of the two eldest children, to receive visitation rights and continued spousal support. It is not known who Blanket's biological mother is.
Klein previously admitted that he had donated sperm in the past but insisted that he was not the father of Jackson's children "to the best of my knowledge".
