Bana: 'Gym-goers have no friends'

Eric Bana has hit out at people who work out, saying that they're missing out on seeing friends and enjoying themselves.

The Time Traveller's Wife actor, who plays decade-hopping librarian Henry DeTamble in the film, insists that he isn't concerned about having a good body.

Bana told Access Hollywood: "Abs are for people with no friends. I don't do the ab thing. I've even had them once, actually, for a film, and they were always covered up. I just said to myself, 'Well, I'll just never do that again.' That was a waste of time. There's so much more to enjoy in life."

Talking about the movie, in which he appears naked, the star added: "The movie's very romantic. Henry's just a guy who's in love and I think that's a masculine thing. We had a time travelling expert on the set who said that for a fact if Henry were to time travel he would be naked. We just had to take his word for it."

The Time Traveller's Wife is released later this month.
