Preston: 'Chantelle divorce was crippling'

Popstar Preston has described his divorce from reality TV star Chantelle Houghton as "crippling", "horrible" and "depressing".

The former Ordinary Boys frontman split from Houghton in November 2007, fifteen months after they tied the knot. The couple were rumoured to have sold their wedding photos to OK magazine for £300,000.

Speaking about his break-up, the singer told DS: "It was really horrible getting divorced. What was even worse about it was that it wasn't a really argumentative break-up.

"We would bicker and stuff, but it was more just really sad, crushing conversations where we would speak in a grown-up manner about how it wasn't working anymore.

"That is far worse than any plate-throwing break-up I think."

The Celebrity Big Brother contestant also said that he found it both "hilarious and heartbreaking" that people kept referring to his divorce at recent live shows.

"I've been doing little gigs, you know those Party In The Park-style events where you play with N-Dubz. You do a couple of songs and it's fun," he said.

"But they have these compares who introduce you to the stage and the last two times I've done these gigs, they've introduced me by bringing up my horrible, crippling, depressing divorce.

"It's like, 'Fresh from his horrible, wounding divorce... it's Preston'. I then go on stage and I'm like, 'F**k, it was horrible, thanks for bringing that up'. It's like they expect everyone to cheer my divorce. But I guess I made my bed with that."

Preston releases his debut solo single 'Dressed To Kill' on August 24.
