In an upcoming book, Curtis alleges that he and Monroe had an on-off relationship which began in 1950 and restarted when they met up again on the set of Some Like It Hot.
At that time, Curtis was married to actress Janet Leigh and Monroe to playwright Arthur Miller.
In The Making of Some Like It Hot, Curtis wrote that he was "stunned" when Monroe told him that she was pregnant as they were confessing their affair to Miller.
"I just stood there. The room was so silent that I could hear tyres screeching on Santa Monica Boulevard," he said.
When he asked Miller what he should do, he reportedly replied: "Finish the film and stay out of our lives."
Curtis continued: "I stared at him for a minute. Then I looked at her. She was crying. 'Okay,' I said. 'That I can do'. I turned and walked out. I went to my dressing room, closed the door and locked it."
He and Monroe allegedly finished their affair when filming ended on Some Like It Hot and Curtis claimed to have learned of her miscarriage afterwards.
