Dane Cook has reportedly defended his decision to poke fun at Vanessa Hudgens's recent nude photograph scandal during Sunday night's Teen Choice Awards.

The comic had taken to the stage to present the Choice Hotties Awards to Robert Pattinson and Megan Fox when he called out Hudgens and said: "Girl, you gots to keep your clothes on! Phones are for phone calls, girl!"

Speaking to Access Hollywood later, he said:"I planned it about 20 minutes before I went out there because I like to be on the cusp of fear.

"My fans are very young as well, and everybody's very opinionated. You gotta keep it classy... Mostly I just wanted it to be funny.

"That’s the best part about being a comic when you go, 'Maybe I can say the thing that everybody is kind of feeling and nobody [is saying]'. The elephant in the room moment. So, I'll take it, I'll take the hit. It's okay."

Hudgens has yet to comment on a recent batch of photographs that allegedly show her posing in various states of undress in her bedroom.

She was previously forced to apologise to her fans when a photo showing her topless surfaced on the internet in 2007.
