The 76-year-old comedienne recently came under fire for swearing on Loose Women, while she has also mocked Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for adopting children from other countries.
Rivers told the Huffington Post that she "loves" her no-holds-barred approach to joke-telling.
She said: "Nothing is off limits. I'm perfectly willing to talk about most everything. I was talking about 9/11 on 9/12. If it's funny, it ain't dirty. Just laugh and calm down.
"I also love it that I'm so politically incorrect."
During the 1980s, the comic hosted late night US chatshow The Late Show, after she was fired as Johnny Carson's permanent guest host on The Tonight Show. Rivers added that she would be game to give the format another try.
She said: "The networks are still very much an old boys club. They think women at night just want to watch men. I'd love to have my own late night talkshow and I think I could take them all. But if it is, it is."
Rivers recently revealed that she came up with the idea for her new TV Land programme How’d you Get So Rich?.
