James: 'Blur got pelted with cheese'

Alex James has revealed that Blur once had cheese thrown at them during a gig in Japan.

The bassist and professional cheesemaker told thelondonpaper that his bandmates are happy with his second career.

James said: "They seem to like the cheese - I've always liked cheese.

"When we were performing in Japan once, the crowd was even throwing it at us - brie at Graham [Coxon] and cheddar at me."

When asked which he would choose between Blur and cheese, he added: "I wouldn't. I'd just demand both. I'm still a rock star after all."

Last year, it was reported that James had chosen to name one of his cheeses after New Order's 1983 single 'Blue Monday'
