Thandie Newton 'chewed gum off the road'

Thandie Newton has admitted that she used to put gum on the ground in her mouth.

The actress wasn’t allowed to buy the sticky substance as a child so would scrape it off the streets and proceed to chew it.

She told the Daily Express: "If it had grit in it, we’d casually pick it off and pop it in our mouths."

She added: "I think that’s why my immune system is so strong today. But looking back, how gross."
