The band have been together for 33 years.
Drummer Larry Mullen Jr told The Mirror: "We split up all the time, in fact we did just 15 minutes ago. But the best thing about breaking up, is the making up."
Bono added: "We have friction which is very serious and profound at times, but you're made better for it.
"You are as good as the arguments you get - and we have a lot. We tell each other how it is. Marriages don't last as long as we have and families break up and so do businesses. But when we walk onstage, people see that defiance, that we are stuck together."
However, the frontman’s bandmates don’t mind him being associated with people they have little admiration for so long as U2 are doing well.
Bono continued: "Does it embarrass the band to see me in a hug with someone that they don't like or don't respect? Yes, but they are prepared to allow me to do it as long as we get results."
