The 32-year-old singer has said that she believes that women tap into their sexual freedom at the age of 35 and truly learn to enjoy the pleasures of the flesh.
Shakira told The Sun: "'The great poet Ovid said women were really women after age 35. I haven't gotten there yet but hopefully the words of the poet are right.
"Women have this primary, basic, animalistic urge. It goes beyond sex."
She added: "Freedom is more than a state of mind, it relates to many different parts of our lives - not only sexual pleasure. Sex is the origin of life, the ultimate human expression."
