Philippoussis ex explains reasons for split

Mark Philippoussis's ex-girlfriend has described him as aloof and terrible with money.

Cheerleader Amanda Salinas broke up with Philippoussis two years ago due to his alleged love rat ways, poor work ethic and lust for expensive goods.

The tennis champion's 28-year-old ex told the Melbourne Herald Sun: "He just didn't think things through [financially]. He seemed pretty sheltered but I guess that's from turning pro so young."

She claimed that Philippoussis could not even do his own laundry and never exercised for his so-called tennis comeback, saying: "He was supposed to be training but he didn't train a day that I knew him. He seemed aloof. I just called and left a message saying... please don't contact me anymore."

The Aussie sports star has admitted that he has financial difficulties and is working with debt collectors to save his five-bedroom home.

Salinas and Philippoussis dated for five months after meeting on American reality show Age of Love.
