Katie Price has defended her decision to ban her son Harvey from appearing on Peter Andre's new TV show.

A voice-over on the popstar's ITV2 special Peter Andre: Going It Alone tonight reveals that no filming of the 7-year-old was permitted due to Price's wishes. Only his biological children Junior, 4, and Princess, 2, are seen by viewers.

A spokesperson for Price has now insisted that the move was not inspired by "bitterness" but came because she wanted to "protect" her child.

The representative added: "Because of his disabilities, Harvey is prone to mood swings and Kate wants to be in control of what is shown."

However, a source close to Andre complained: "This is just another case of Kate being awkward and trying to get at Peter. Kate has full control over Harvey as he is not strictly Peter's son.

"But Peter is now at a great stage where he realises his music is a success and he is mad about his kids. He knows he is an amazing father and that is one thing Kate can never take away."

Andre's new single 'Behind Closed Doors' entered the UK chart at number four yesterday.
