Evan Rachel Wood 'makes up with father'

Evan Rachel Wood has said that playing Mickey Rourke's daughter in The Wrestler helped her to resolve issues with her own father.

The actress, who said that she and her father were never close until now, revealed that they are now getting on so well that they are planning to star together in a family production of Romeo and Juliet.

Wood told i-D magazine: "All these issues came up that I didn't know I still had until I was forced to go there and it totally reconnected me with him. Everything that's been pent up over the years suddenly comes out, then you don't talk for a while, and then you slowly reconcile."

She added: "There wasn't any closeness. We had to get to know each other again. Getting to know him now, it's like 'Oh my God, you are so cool.'"
