Kelly Rowland: "I wanted a father figure"

The Destiny's Child singer, who fled from her alcoholic dad Christopher while she was growing up, suggested that this is the root cause of her lack of successful relationships.
"It was quite tough dealing with that when I was growing up. I wanted a father figure in my life and it can also mean you sometimes don't make the best decisions, including your choice in men," she told Reveal magazine.
"But I've spoken to many girls who have gone through it and unfortunately, it is quite common. It's for this reason that I don't cry myself a pity party over it."
Rowland also explained that she is not yet ready to get back in touch with her estranged father.
She added: "I don't know how I feel about reuniting with him. I don't want to revisit that part of my life just yet - I just don't feel like dealing with it right now. I think there is a time and place for everything but it isn't now."
