Ryan Alexander Jenkins, a contestant on VH1's Megan Wants a Millionaire, is being hunted by police as "a person of interest" after the body of 28-year-old model Jasmine Fiore was found in a rubbish bin in California.
According to The AP, the Whatcom County Sherrif's Office in Washington has received a tip that Canadian-born Jenkins, 32, could have crossed the border. His car and an empty boat trailer have reportedly been found at a marina in Blaine.
Officials are believed to have heard that a man matching his description arrived at Point Roberts, a stretch of country about 10 miles away reachable by land only from Canada. It is thought that he then walked across the border to British Columbia.
Jenkins met Fiore in Las Vegas shortly after he finished taping the VH1 show. Her mother has since claimed that the pair annulled their brief marriage after a "big blowout".
Court records show that Jenkins was charged in Nevada with a "battery constituting domestic violence" for allegedly hitting Fiore in the arm. He was previously sentenced to 15 months' probation in January 2007 in relation to an unspecified assault charge in Canada.
Fiore's cause of death has not yet been released, although preliminary reports have suggested that she was strangled.
Earlier today, VH1 announced that it had pulled all future airings of Megan Wants a Millionaire and offered its condolences to Fiore's family.
