Mike Myers: 'I nearly lost my toe'

Mike Myers has revealed that he almost lost a toe after a scooter accident in Fiji last year.

The Shrek star apparently had to endure a year of treatment on the digit after using his foot to stop a runaway bike on the second day of his holiday on the South Pacific island.

He told WENN: "I went into oncoming traffic. I put my foot down and tried to stop and took the top of my foot off. I was wearing sandals, which was stupid.

"There was this arterial spray. It was like the opening credits of Saving Private Ryan."

The actor, who said that he spent the rest of the holiday with his foot in the air, added that the wound became infected and he had to see a specialist back in New York.

He said: "I was referred to this great doctor. I had to see him once a week for a year - and he saved my toe... It grew back."
