McAdams: "Don't wear tight pants!"

Rachel McAdams has revealed her fashion secrets and rules in a recent interview.

The Time Traveller's Wife star also spoke about her past relationships and her fondness for movies that make her cry.

After urging girls not to wear "tight pants", she admitted that she relies on "a little bit of duct tape" to stop wardrobe malfunctions from occurring.

The Canadian actress described the 1950s as the best style decade, saying: "The fashion was incredible and so glamorous. The dancing and social events would be fun, and there was a little more formality. I love that."

McAdams also spoke about her rumoured break-ups with actors Ryan Gosling and Josh Lucas, saying: "It’s hard to start fresh but you have to do that with everyone. I always find that one relationship always helps out with the next."

Talking about her love of sad films, she added: "I cry in movies that aren't supposed to be sad. It’s something about the airplane - it’s something about the altitude, but I cry in every movie I’ve ever seen on an airplane."
