Ryan Alexander Jenkins, who appeared in VH1 series Megan Wants A Millionaire, is thought to have fled the US last week after the body of swimsuit model Jasmine Fiore was discovered in a California rubbish bin.
The body of 32-year-old Jenkins was found in a motel room in British Columbia yesterday.
Authorities have said that it is not clear how long he was at the motel before he was discovered.
"At this time, the investigation into the circumstances of his death is continuing but preliminary evidence suggests that he took his own life," said Sgt Duncan Pound at a press conference.
Police have said that they will continue their investigation into the death of Fiore, 28, but are confident that Jenkins was "solely responsible".
VH1 previously postponed all future airings of Megan Wants A Millionaire and has offered its condolences to Fiore's family.
