Lohan "okay, upset" following burglary

Lindsay Lohan was "okay, but upset" following a burglary at her Los Angeles home over the weekend, according to her mother.

The Mean Girls star returned to the property early yesterday morning to discover that it had been ransacked by thieves while she was attending a family friend's birthday party in Malibu.

Speaking to People, her mum Dina said: "The safe was ripped out of the wall and the door was off the hinges and door handles removed. Bags, shoes and jewellery were taken too. Thank God she wasn't home."

Dina went on to say that the 23-year-old was in the process of "moving to a safer place" when the incident took place.

An LAPD spokesperson added: "All we can confirm is that we are investigating a possible break in at the residence and we still have officers on the scene. We got a call shortly before 7am this morning and it's still under investigation. No arrests have been made."

Police previously responded to an alarm call at the actress's home in May, after two men attempted to gain access to the property through a rear window and door.
