A writ issued by Atkins Thomson lists Goody's mother Jackiey Budden and her grandparents John and Sylvia Caddock among the seven people making a collective damages claim, Press Gazette reports.
The lawsuit is based on pictures published in People on April 5, which are alleged to be breach of confidence and an invasion of privacy.
The action seeks a formal declaration stating that the plaintiffs' right to privacy had been invaded and duty of confidence breached, while it also demands the return of the pictures and insists they not be republished.
Mirror Group Newspaper owner Trinity Mirror and NewsPics have declined to comment about the lawsuit.
Goody's widower Jack Tweed is not among the claimants listed in the writ.
