Published Wednesday, Dec 1 2004, 15:49 GMT | By Daniel Saney
A new award category for best song will be introduced for the 25th annual Brit Awards next year.
The poll to find out which song the nation thinks is best will be conducted amongst Radio Two listeners. The public will be given a list of 25 songs from which they can choose to be the winner. The list of potential winners will be announced by Davina McCall on the station.
All of the selections must have been performed by a British artist since 1977, and the shortlist has been compiled by members of the record industry. Davina will invite the public to vote for their favourites on 2nd and 3rd of January after she has run through the list.
The top five will be announced with the other nominations on January 10th.
