The singer pleaded guilty in June to attacking Rihanna in Hancock Park, Los Angeles, prior to the Grammy Awards in February.
According to BBC News, Brown is required to perform physical labour in his home state of Virginia as well as attend counselling sessions on domestic violence for a period of 52 weeks. He must also stay at least 100 yards away from his former partner for the next five years.
During the sentencing, which was brought forward earlier today, the judge said that the labour would include cleaning up rubbish and washing cars.
Brown, who was fined $2,500 (£1,525) in addition to the sentence, apparently said nothing in court other than to confirm that he accepted the terms.
