Denise Richards has said that she gets upset when she thinks about her daughters starting school in a few weeks.

The Wild Things actress, who has daughters Sam, 5, and 4-year-old Lola with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, announced that she will struggle spending the day without her girls.

She told People magazine: "It's bittersweet. Sami starts kindergarten, which I cannot believe, in a couple of weeks. I'm so sad about it. I can't believe how fast five years have gone."

Richards continued: "I'm very proud of her and very happy, but from here on out she's in school."

The 38-year-old star added that she will probably transfer her attention to stray dogs, saying: "I've always been that way. Ever since I was little I always brought home every little stray dog who didn't have a home. My daughters love animals as well, so I can't help it."
