AEG: 'We never paid Conrad Murray'

Conrad Murray was reportedly never hired by Michael Jackson's concert promoters AEG Live.

A spokesman for the company told ABC News that while the singer's doctor had been in talks regarding his salary, negotiations were not completed by the time of Jackson's death in June.

He said: "Conrad Murray was Michael Jackson's personal physician for three years. Michael Jackson requested Murray be put on as part of the show.

"Murray, however, had yet to be hired. Discussions were along the way for a completed contract. Murray had signed the contract, however, neither Michael Jackson nor AEG had signed the contract."

He added: "Murray was never hired and never paid by AEG."

It had been suggested that Murray would be charged with manslaughter as a result of Jackson's death from a suspected injection of surgical anaesthetic propofol.

The Los Angeles Coroner's Office has reportedly since said that the case is being treated as a homicide.
