Police officers found marijuana and empty drug bottles during a search of Michael Jackson's home, reports have revealed.

According to The Sun, the singer's family believed that he had been taking heroin after finding a "rotting tar-like" substance in his room.

However, court papers report that officials identified the drug as mouldy marijuana.

Meanwhile, People reports that police also found a bottle of temazepam and empty bottles of sedatives lorzaepam and diazepam.

Earlier today, it emerged that only three detectives are investigating Michael Jackson's death.
